A lot of websites ask for your permission to show notifications. While Chrome notifications might be useful for some sites, the constant pop-up prompts can be annoying. We’ll show you how to turn off Chrome notifications for good.

How to Disable Chrome Notifications

If you’re not interested in notifications from any website, you can block the prompts completely from the Chrome settings.

First, open the Chrome web browser on your Windows, Mac, or Linux computer, and then click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the window.

Next, select “Settings” from the drop-down menu.

Scroll down the Settings page and select “Site Settings.”

In the Permissions section, click “Notifications.”

Toggle off the “Sites can ask to send notifications” option at the top of the page.

That’s it! Websites will no longer be able to ask you to enable notifications!

How to Stop Chrome Notifications for Specific Websites

Perhaps you gave a website permission to send notifications and now you want to stop them. You can also manage Chrome notifications individually by website.

First, open Chrome on your desktop computer, and then click the three-dot menu icon in the top-right corner of the window.

Next, select “Settings” from the menu.

Scroll down the Settings page and select “Site Settings.”

Under the Permissions heading, click “Notifications.”

You’ll see a bunch of websites listed on this page. If you’ve previously blocked a site from sending notifications, you’ll see it at the top. Underneath, in the Allow section, are all the sites that you’ve allowed to send notifications.

There are a few things that we can do from here. First, click the three-dot menu icon next to a site to Allow, Block, Edit the URL, or Remove it entirely.

The other thing that you can do is click the “Add” button for the “Block” or “Allow” lists to manually enter a website URL.

That’s all there is to it. Use these tools to make sure that websites aren’t bothering you with notifications, and only allow them from the sites that you actually care about.
