Facebook has long been known for its social networking site, but it’s also got a messaging system that’s relatively unknown. This messaging system, called Facebook Messenger, is a great way to communicate with friends and family without having to leave the Facebook site. To access Facebook Messenger, go to the main Facebook page and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the screen. This will open up a menu of options. Click on “Messenger” in this menu. Now you’ll be taken to a new page where you can see all of your messages and contacts. To message someone, just type their name into the “To” field and hit enter. You can also send photos or videos by clicking on the “Photos” or “Videos” buttons, respectively. If you want to reply to a message, just click on it and hit the “Reply” button. You can also delete messages by hitting the “Delete” button next to them. ..
You might have heard that there is a somewhat unknown Facebook inbox where potentially scads of filtered messages go to die. It turns out, there are actually two. Here’s how to make sure you’re getting all your messages.
Things change, and with it, Facebook. Just a short time ago, the Internet was abuzz over a “hidden” and “secret” inbox that held a trove of lost messages. But, just like the 24-hour news cycle, things are different now. The old method has now apparently been replaced by a much more streamlined, less hidden way…but there are still lots of messages you may not realize you’re getting.
One of the most immediate methods to get to the filtered inbox is to click on the message icon at the top of the Facebook homepage and then click ‘Message Requests”.
The “Message Requests” inbox will show you a whole new set of messages you may or may not have seen–usually from people who aren’t your friends. You might be surprised at what you find in there. Or, you may have already known about this, and have been checking that inbox for awhile.
However, there’s even more. click “See filtered requests” to see a whole, third set of messages that have been filtered by Facebook for whatever reason.
Alternatively, from your inbox, click the “More” button at the top and from the dropdown menu, click “Filtered”.
That’s it, you’re then swooshed to your filtered messages inbox, which are just messages from people who aren’t your friends, wishing to initiate a conversation with you. Of course, you never know, you might discover a long lost rich uncle or an old flame hidden among the masses.
If you’re using the Facebook messaging app, then you can get to your filtered inbox by tapping on the “Settings” icon.
On your iPhone or iPad, it will look like this.
On Android it will look like this.
On either platform, you want to tap “People” and then on the resulting screen, tap “Message Requests” to see the first set of “hidden” messages. Scroll to the bottom and choose “See Filtered Requests” to see even more. Again, all those long lost filtered messages will be revealed and you can attend to them if you want.
So, there you have it. All the latest ways you can access your filtered messages inbox. As you can see, it’s not really that hard to find, but that doesn’t mean everyone is going to necessarily know it exists, especially if you only use the Messenger app rather than the actual Facebook website.
