Apple CarPlay is now available on all Apple-compatible vehicles as of Feb. 2022. This includes both new and pre-owned models. CarPlay allows drivers to access their phone’s music, contacts, and maps without having to take their hands off the wheel. It’s a great way to stay connected while on the go. ..
To use CarPlay, you connect your iPhone to your car or motorcycle via a wired (usually Lightning-to-USB) or wireless connection. Your iPhone then takes over the touch screen interface on your vehicle’s dashboard.
From there, you can control apps that support the special CarPlay interface with touch, buttons, or knobs. You can also use voice control with Siri to perform other tasks.
If you’re familiar with Google’s Android Auto, you’ll be right at home with CarPlay.
Which iPhones Support CarPlay?
Before you buy a vehicle that supports CarPlay, make sure your iPhone supports it, as well. You can use CarPlay with all the following iPhone models:
iPhone 13/Mini/Pro/Pro Max iPhone 12/Mini/Pro/Pro Max iPhone 11/Pro/Pro Max iPhone XS/XS Max iPhone X/XR iPhone 8/Plus iPhone 7/Plus iPhone 6s/Plus iPhone 6/Plus iPhone SE iPhone 5/5s/5c
